About Us
More Than Paws Professional Pet Sitting is owned and operated by my husband and me, Roger and Andrea Florkowski. We live in Hopewell Junction, New York, with our two daughters and our animal family.

We are owned by our 3 dogs: Luke, our formally abused German Shepherd, Breeze our Belgian Shepherd, and Bailey our long haired Dachshund. Five cats: Gizzy, Black, Jack, Tinkerbell and Frankee and our countless fish.

We have been involved with animal rescue for over 18 years. We have fostered and adopted countless animals that had been severely abused and were otherwise deemed unadoptable. With lots of love, patience and understanding these animals were able to become loving members of our family. Most of our cats started out being feral, or were found road side or in shopping center parking lots. Again, with time, patience, and love they all became tame and affectionate indoor cats. Any animal that walks through our front door, has a home for the rest of its life. It seems that when one of our animals pass on to the Rainbow Bridge, there is a knock at our door for another animal in need. We are especially pleased to be passing down our love for animals to our daughters. We volunteer our time and donate to numerous animal groups.

Our first glimpse into the world of pet sitting came while living in Austin, Texas and befriending our pet sitter, June. We covered for her numerous times while she went on vacation or needed an extra hand, and thus the world of pet sitting was introduced to us! As our children are growing up, this is a wonderful way for me (Andrea) to spend my days being with what I enjoy most, animals, and to help fellow animal loving families provide the same care and love for their pets that they do while they are on vacation or at work. Roger shares in my enthusiasm and is always willing to lend an extra hand. We are both insured and bonded.

Sue Careccia joined us in August, 2005 and offers service to parts of Wappingers Falls, Fishkill and Poughkeepsie. With the addition of Sue, we are able to expand our service area. We are thrilled to have her on board!

My name is Sue Careccia. I Iive in Wappingers Falls with my husband, two children, and a rescue dog named Astro. My love for animals started 27 years ago when I found a Chihuahua in a dumpster in NYC. I thought it was a rat at first but the whimpering led me to believe it was not. After a vet visit and a clean bill of health, we named her Jasmine. She lived with me as an extremely pampered and spoiled dog for 17 years. Of course, I ended up getting another Chihuahua a year later to keep her company while I went to work. We named him Phillipe. He also lived for 17 years. In 27 years, we have had 4 Chihuahuas, 1 rescued white German Shepherd, 1 Guinea Pig. and 2 goldfish.

Walking pass a stray, defenseless animal is a "no" in our household. My husband and children will tell me if they see an animal running around loose. Usually the outcome is wonderful and the owner is looking for his pet.

I started pet sitting 10 years ago for friends and neighbors. Now I also pet sit for a few clients at work. I have been working at the East Fishkill Animal Hospital for 13 years as a receptionist, taking care of our boarding pets, and also lending a hand with our hospital patients. The most pleasure in life is to make a sick animal comfortable. All they need is a kind word and a pat on the head to put them at ease. When I started working for the animal hospital, I also volunteered my time working for the animal rescue foundation in Beacon. This is where I adopted my dog Astro, and where I will adopt my next dog.

My name is Pat Touri. I joined the More Than Paws team in April, 2006. I live in Carmel, NY with my husband, Al. I previously lived in Westchester County my entire life.

I have had the pleasure of living with the unconditional love and companionship of animals of all kinds since my earliest childhood memories. I am currently owned by 5 such animals....a spunky little Pug named Lola, a Pug puppy named Esmay, and 3 adult indoor cats...BOO, Radley and Lucy.

Some years ago I volunteered as a foster parent for "Just Strays," which is an organization devoted to feral cats, providing spay/neuter and all healthcare services. It was a very rewarding experience to work with these wonderful animals and watch them come around to trust humans and become loving and affectionate pets and be placed into warm, happy families.

I look forward to making lots of new friends as a pet sitter for everyone's cherished pets.

Pat will be operating our Putnam More Than Paws Pet Sitting branch. In 2006, Pat worked full time pet sitting for us in our main location of Dutchess County. With her move to Carmel, this has enabled us to extend our pet sitting location to Putnam County. Thanks Pat !!!!!
